Spiders
| Spiders are eight-legged invertebrates grouped under the name of arachnids. This group also contains such animals as scorpions, ticks and mites. Spiders are predatory animals "web catching" or "hunting" are the two capture techniques used.
Two spiders which are feared the most in Melbourne homes are the Redback spider and the Whitetail spider.
Redback spiders are not aggressive, and rarely leave the web, however caution is advised as their bite is very poisonous and potentially fatal for children and the elderly.
Whitetail spiders do not live in a web but wander slowly in search of prey, bites by this spider are relatively frequent due to its wandering habit, and caution is advised.
